Harris County jurors get Dave Ward appearance

Harris County jurors got a big surprise during Jury Appreciation Week 2018 (April 30-May 4).

Dave Ward helped ring in the festivities on day three by speaking at the 1pm jury call with Harris County District Clerk Chris Daniel and the staff of the Harris County District Clerk’s Office.

“I want to thank the 80+ jurors who let me visit with them,” Dave said. “It’s because of you, and our every day citizens that our judicial system works!”

The week-long celebration of juror service was first observed in Harris County in 2009.

In 2015, the Texas Legislature formally designated the first week of May as Jury Appreciation Week in the state of Texas.

The purpose of the event is to recognize, reward and encourage jury service and the sacrifice our neighbors make toward the cause of criminal justice in the Houston area.

Each year, the Harris County District Clerk’s Office commemorates the event with guest speakers, complimentary food, prizes and presentations by entertainment and sports organizations.

Besides Dave, other speakers for the week included the likes of Jim Mcingvale “Mattress Mack,” Congressman Ted Poe and radio host Sam Malone.
